| Final portfolio proposal for Digital II |
[30 Mar 2007|05:02pm] |
Project Posposal – “Time” - Digital II
After thinking about the element of time and what it means to me, I started thinking about it in the terms of the past and the present. When I think about the past, I think about high school, relationships, friendships and living at home. When I think of the present, I think of college, work, friendships, and relationships. There is one person who I consider an element of my past, who frequently intertwines with my present. For my final portfolio, with the theme of “time,” I would like to create a body of work based upon this element of my past. I would like to take the element of time and illustrate it using a person from my past, to show how things have developed in the present.
Two years after my relationship with my ex has ended I still feel a sense of regret. There will always be a part of each of us that still cares, and neither of us will ever forget one another, but I feel as an attempt to put this part of me in the past, I would like to create a body of work illustrating the emotions, and the love that once was. This will be a series of portraits in personal spaces including my ex-boyfriend Chris and myself that will focus on us in the present as individuals, friends, and us as a couple of the past. This body of work will be considered the final chapter to what used to be, the next step to moving on, and further portraying the element of our time.
This project will be done digitally using a Canon EOS Rebel XTi, Photoshop CS2, and digitally printed on an Epson R200. These portraits will be 8x10” in size or smaller for a more personal and intimate feel.

| Going to Europe |
[29 Mar 2007|04:53pm] |
I leave for my Euro-Trip on May 23rd. Here is my itinerary-
Days 1-2 Fly through the night to England's capital, where you'll meet your tour director. On a walking tour, pass Charing Cross Road, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. Tonight, after getting to know your group at a welcome dinner, you might have a pint at a local pub or check out the bustling scene around Leicester Square.
Days 3-5 Today you'll see Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park. In the afternoon, take some time to visit Windsor Castle on your own. Day 4 is a free day in London. You could check out the goods in Camden Town or take in over-the-top views of the city on the London Eye. Maybe cap the day off with a play in London's West End. On Day 5, the high speed Eurostar train takes you to Paris.
Days 6-8 Enjoy panoramic views of Paris as you tour the city by bus. Then go inside the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral. Tonight, you could take in a show at the Moulin Rouge. On Day 7, after a walking tour, visit the Louvre and then enjoy a free afternoon. Day 8 is a full free day. A visit to Jim Morrison's grave at the Pere Lachaise Cemetery could be in order. Or shop for the latest fashions on the Champs- Elysees. Later, board a night train to Italy.
Days 9-11 Arrive in Rome and start with a guided tour of the ancient city, including a visit to the Colosseum. After, cruise by more spots of interest on a walking tour, including the legendary Trevi Fountain. On Day 10, tour Vatican City, visit St. Peter's Basilica, and see Michelangelo's amazing frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The afternoon is free; this may be a chance to relax in the quiet greenery of the Villa Borghese. On Day 11, explore the city on your free day. Grab a pizza and take some time to people watch from the famous Spanish Steps.
Day 12 Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

| Proposal for my final project in History of Photography |

(what to expect to see from me by the end of school)
A Closer Look at Patterns and Textures in Nature
For my final portfolio for this class I would like to propose the creation of a body of work, which shows the beauty, and fine details of nature through color photography. I have always had a love for nature and the outdoors, and when I first took my camera out onto the field I was amazed at the detail and the abstraction created by the finest of details found in nature. The different surfaces, textures, and color all look so different when viewed from a close range and for this project I would like to focus on those elements.
I would like to use two different types of film and paper to contrast between warm and cool tones within the colors. I will be using Fujifilm Superia 100 speed for fine grain in cool tones combined with Fujifilm Crystal Archive Super C Luster paper. To focus on warm tones I will be using Kodak Portra 160VC film with Kodak Portra Endura Luster paper. Both papers will be 11x14” in size so that I may make a big enlargement with out losing any grain or detail.
I want these photographs to stand out among any other nature studies that anyone has done. Therefore I’m hoping for the best outcome by combining warm and cool tones along with fine grain film, vibrant colors, and abstract compositions.
Next week I'll post my revised Photo II proposal.

Yeah, it's been a while since I've updated. My finals were crazy but I completed the year well. I'm unsure of my grades yet because I haven't been home in about three weeks. I've been traveling around and will be back home in Lancaster, PA this thursday. Right now I'm takin it easy in Maryland and trying to catch up with some friends. I do have ALOT of work to put up and show but I probably won't get around to it for the next two weeks. I've got some other work and priorities to take care of. But don't worry, it will be here soon.
I also wanted to let everyone know about this other gallery site I have joined, there is actually some recent work on there, maybe some things you haven't seen so please check this out

bookmark that, I will definitly be updating that alot as well

| Photography and Drawings |
[11 Feb 2006|10:34pm] |
|
So far I'm really liking photography. I spent a while in the darkroom today, would have spent more but it closes at 8pm and it was snowing like crazy so i had to get out of there. Tomorrow morning I hope to wake up at a good hour to go shoot the graveyard covered in snow. Its become a good subject matter because its right there... i'll find other things that are less creepy, I promise.
So this is what i have to show for this week:
My 2d project done with painted textures GLUED to show the different values
the black and white photo and my painted texture college/value study
which i should take a more updated picture of because my teacher made me add a couple things to it, but you get the idea.
the painting im working on in 2d, due on march 2nd. i only spent about 3 hours on it and it needs alot more work. i really only have a quarter of it DONE to where i want it. basically the project is that you take a famous painting and crop it to just one person (mine is the birth of venus of course) and you just paint with a variation of unmixed colors in a Monet style, with lots of linework.-
detail:
a self portrait i did a week or so ago for drawing class
two long model drawings (at least 3 hours work on each), two different weeks, two different models... yet practically the same pose.

a very enlarged hip bone
a ribcage with back light

and skulls

and the photos i took today at my friends apartment, these are the digital version, but i also took a good roll of black and white at her house that i will scan when i get them back and get the chance. i think they came out very well. this is probably the best photo out of all of them-

thats all for me, ill be back to post more drawings and my painting in progress but i'll leave you with a lancaster snow scene?
these are for my mom down in South Carolina, where it probably hasnt snowed in YEARS

my birthday is in 2 months. march 14th in case anyone forgot. ill be 19. and for my 19th birthday i would like MONEY. so that i can last maybe one more month here in lancaster with out getting a job before summer. i would seriously be so happy if i could get through the semester without having homework AND a job. but we'll see what happens.

Sorry its been a month since i've updated. busy.
I got a new roommate, his name is brandon (pictured below), i still live with christine too. I adopted a dog 2 weeks ago, we named her Kayla. she is a 2 year old doby/lab mix that is very well mannered and behaved. she knows alot of basic commands and is a total sweetheart who loves her belly rubbed. she had puppies about 3 months ago so she still has the mamma nipples that probably wont go away but they dont really bother me.
I got my midterm grades which we ALOT better than i thought they would be. All A's and B's. which i was expecting a C in one of my classes so im kinda excited to get good grades. im pretty sure i can pull off above a 3.0 on my final grades. that would be a nice christmas present.
i havent really done much at all other than homework and playin with my new dog. i've lost a lot of weight since ive lived here too and walking the dog helps me get more exercise.
well, here are the pics.

Hey everybody, I've been WAY busy with homework and projects lately but there are some good results. I'm actually starting to LOVE school. Monday's drawing class is by far the best class i've ever taken, and I actually look forward to it. Here is what I've been doing lately:
Class on 9-19: The Study of Plaster Sculptures.

Class on 9-26: The Study of the Human Skull, then the "Copy of a Master" project

The above drawing is my representation of a statue found in an Italian Renaissance Sculpture book.
That's all for now. Expect another update around next Monday or Tuesday night!!!

College has begun. it started out a little boring and i now realize that i desperately need an mp3 player (that isnt an ipod) for my six hour long classes. but i will be getting one soon...
so i went out yesterday shooting pictures for a book i have to do in 3D Design class and i totally opened up my eyes to photography again.
i have been so preoccupied this summer that i completely forgot about art and the fact that i was going to art school. and now my life relvolves around it and i feel like..."complete" its amazing.
i have GOT to go back to ERHS and see creek. i miss him and froggy SO MUCH!!

| Here I go... |
[26 Jul 2005|02:10pm] |
Well, this will be my last entry probably for a while. we've been packing and such for the the past couple of days. I will be moving to Pennsylvania on Friday morning (july 29). and my mom will be staying in Maryland for a month helping Ma move and whatever else. Our house has been sold and we're outta here on July 28th. Its going to be sad to leave the house my dad partially built, and that I have grown up in. But things change and people move on. College and living on my own is a scary thought, but I think I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Anyway, I will probably sent out a family "Hello" letter when I get settled there.
hungry college student!! please send care packages to:

Well i can thankfully say that the 2 day trip to Pennsylvania was a VERY sucessful one. My mom and i went down friday morning to look at some apartments that were only open Mon-Fri. we were kinda unlucky there... one was in a TERRIBLE part of town, one was too expensive and didnt even have a refrigerator and the one was just okay... but we found a roach and the only bathroom was downstairs and too far away from the rooms. so the first day, unsuccessful. we had NO CLUE what we were gonna do. We knew we had an appointment with one complex to see another 2BR place but it was a little pricey.
So Saturday we met up with Christine (my roomy) and her sister Kathy and went to the appointment with the complex. we kinda had to fight the guy to show us one because according to him there were no 2 BRs available and he lied. we saw two places there but they were reeeal expensive. then my mom had a brillant idea which we had thought about all day friday and proposed to them on saturday. we go to settlement on our house July 28th. the money we get from the house my mom was just going to go put a down payment on a place in SC. buuuut houses in lancaster city run from about $75,000-100,000 so MAYBE she could buy a house in Lancaster. This way, christine and i will pay my mom a flat rent rate of like $300-325 and we could have cable and everything set for us. Then in 4 years when i graduate she can sell the house or i can buy it from her / keep renting it if i wanna stay in lancaster. So at the last minute friday night we had talked to a real estate guy to show us houses all afternoon on saturday. we looked atttt.... about 6 or 7 houses. now, let me inform you, pretty much every house in lancaster city is like 80+ years old... two of them were GROSS and definite NOs, one was down the street from the prision, a couple were... EHs.. and we were really liking these two...
but i fell in LOVE with this newly rennovated house. barely any of the houses there have central air conditioning/heating and this one did. it had a new kitchen, new paint, new carpet, fairly new furnace and water heater and a little back yard and porch. it was adorable. seriously. it was nicely done. they were gonna give us a new stove (hopefully) and we would need to bring in a new refrigerator (it didnt have one) and washer/dryer which heather is giving us for free.
SO HERE ARE THE PICS OF DA NEW HOUSE :o)

( clickyclicky )
IF ANYONE HAS ANYTHING (free) HOUSE/KITCHEN/DINING ROOM/LIVING ROOM/BEDROOM RELATED PLEASE LET ME KNOW I DON'T HAVE ALOT TO PUT IN THIS HOUSE!! I will be moving in July 29-31st. if you wanna help PLEASE BE MY GUEST!

He is on vacaion in Alaska so there is really nothing for me to do there. I really need the money for college because I don't know if I can survive next year. buut. oh well. Hope all is well. And I hope everyone is taking exciting vacatons. I wish I was.
